Sharon will help you learn how to change the dance in the office, using multiple interventional styles, exploring what each couple needs to change, while helping them alter their interactions. You become at those moments the trusted empathic choreographer. It is through the lived experience in the safety of your presence they might change their circular interactions from reactive survival stances, to loving and intimacy building conversations, where real transformation is possible.
Sharon has particular expertise working with couples who present challenges in their sexual relationship.
In 2008, Sharon reached out to Esther Perel for case consultation, as so many of the couples she was seeing at the time were bringing challenges related to sex addiction, disparate sexual desire, infidelity, questioning monogamy, considering polyamory, and more.
Sharon feels profoundly fortunate to have been in private case consultation with Esther for 3 years, and in group consultation for 3 more, and to be a Founding Member of Esther’s online training forum SESSIONS. Sharon continues to love to learn and grow in her work with couples and wants to bring her wisdom and expertise to both newer and seasoned clincians through consultation.
Sharon’s foundational core is deeply grounded in family systems theory, the dual needs of attachment and differentiation, multi-generational messaging and patterns, and how childhood blueprints shape relational life, sexuality and expectations. Sharon uses direct psychosocial and psychosexual education, while also deepening the therapy to help each partner develop greater self-compassion and comfort with vulnerability, self-regulation, and responsibility for their relationship, concurrently building capacity for greater empathy and heartfelt curiosity towards their partner.
Groups are limited to 4 clincians to encourage safety as processing personal struggles in the work, countertransference issues, and the intersection of your own relationships will come into play as you deepen your work bringing your most difficult cases and questions to consultation. Keeping the groups small also enables each clinician enough time at regular intervals for in-depth focus on their own cases.
Costs for each clinician is $60 per consultation session assuming the group has 4 members. Groups are usually bi-weekly, although monthly groups are an alternative for 60, 75, or 90 minutes, and pro-rated accordingly.
Private Consultation is $200 for 45 minutes. If you are a member of a group, private consultation is reduced to $120.
Exact days, times, and start dates will be determined by Sharon in collaboration with interested clinicians.
Please note. If you currently do not see couples, and want to learn more about couple therapy, individual cases with relationship concerns may be used for case presentation.
